JANET B.

Janet is a straightforward, no-nonsense, bright woman with an easy laugh. She is originally from Texas, and retains the unflappable manner characteristic of her home state. She has glowing references from former employers that underscore her resourcefulness, dedication and sense of humor.

Janet studied theater at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Midway through her studies, she decided to take the plunge into the professional world.  She acted in classical theater throughout the country, and supported herself between plays by temping full-time in various NYC offices as an administrative assistant. Janet ultimately transferred her credits to CUNY and received her BFA with honors in 2012.

For two years (2008-2009), Janet was a Privileging Administrator with Bloomberg. Janet processed financial information requests associated with different levels of confidentiality for employees. She ran each query through varying levels of approval and made sure each was appropriately approved or revoked. Janet left when her boss was promoted and replaced by the head of security. Before Bloomberg, Janet was invited by a former colleague at Christie’s to work at Sotheby’s Auction House as a transcriber, the same work she had done at Christie’s for over seven years.  In this capacity, Janet inventoried every item from purchased estates, which could take up to two months each.

From 2004-2005, Janet worked as the Assistant to the Director at Blanton-Peale Counseling Center, a school for therapists that offered services to the public. Patients were treated on a sliding scale, and Janet was impressed to see patients actually get better. She processed insurance claims, composed correspondence for the director, and tracked personnel records. From 2002-2003, Janet was a medical transcriber at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Janet’s supervisor praised her ability to understand the associated technology, to use reference materials effectively, and her transcription skills. The latter was developed in her previous position as a transcriber for the financial firm Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis.  Janet left this position for Sloan Kettering when the firm was downsized after 9/11.

Janet is a hardworking, reliable assistant who is also a well-rounded person: pragmatic, sympathetic and a great listener. She is easygoing and collaborative. She believes it is important not to go through life feeling you have to win all the time. Janet is comfortable working on either a Mac or a PC and is proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel. She is also adept at general computer troubleshooting. Her current assignment is as the personal assistant to a blind woman, who describes Janet as warm and dependable.  She is mature and experienced, and a marked asset to her clients.
