Rachel radiates warmth and intelligence. Her father worked for an international relief organization, and she lived abroad until her early teens, attending international schools in Jerusalem and Jakarta. When she returned to the United States, Rachel was the eighth generation of her family to attend the Westtown School, a Quaker boarding academy in Pennsylvania. She was given both Westtown’s Kaesemayer Leadership Award and Theater Arts Award. During her senior year, she took her first job as head receptionist for the school office.
Rachel graduated with high honors from Oberlin College, where she majored in Gender Studies and Theater. She was the recipient of the James S. McLaughlin Theater Award for playwriting. Rachel came to New York in 2012. Since then, she has worked as a charity ambassador at iBid Mobile, an App used for silent auctions. For iBid, Rachel attends fundraising events and walks around with a company iPad taking bids from guests. Concurrently, Rachel founded Pencil Productions, a theater company that promotes works by emerging playwrights. Here, she wrote and staged the play Stranger Odds at the Fresh Fruit Festival. As its producer, Rachel managed all publicity for the show, including the Facebook page and festival website updates. She also designed the programs and promotional postcards.
Rachel recently completed a five-month internship at Early Stages, a theater company that fosters literacy in children through the arts. She coordinated trips to Broadway and Off-Broadway shows for public school students. Additionally, she edited videos for Early Stages’ YouTube channel, wrote copy for their website, and researched grant opportunities. Rachel also interned at Propstar!, a prop design house, and The York Theater Company, where she managed the patron database and assisted with gala planning.
Rachel is an eminently capable assistant. She has a strong grasp of basic web design, WordPress and Social Media. Rachel knows the Microsoft Office Suite, Photoshop, Finale and is fluent in French. Additional skills include cooking, light home repair, event planning and research. Rachel is bright, collaborative and enthusiastic by nature, and has endless amounts of energy for promoting projects and supporting people.
