Lambent Services is founded on the idea that people represent, in and of themselves, limitless potential which may be realized by working together. The roles of assistant and client can be used as an opportunity for maximizing the productivity of each. We promote these interactions in a manner which combines a professional approach with thoughtfulness, consideration and fun. We value our assistants and clients beyond economic considerations. As you will see when you begin working with us, the worth of very good help often far outweighs its actual cost. Using personal assistants can have profound results because it gives the client a new sense of deliberateness about time. Once you are freed from much of the minutiae that moves, imperceptibly, into our everyday lives, you can begin to function in a fuller, richer, overall capacity. In New York City and Los Angeles at the beginning of this century, there is an increased sense that time is our most precious commodity. Like other dwindling resources, for each person, it is the one thing we cannot get any more of. Affluent New Yorkers regularly outsource housecleaning, childcare, and office support functions, but relatively few outsource themselves. Our LA office has grown at a faster rate than NYC because, apart from having invented the personal assistant, those who are affluent in LA more easily perceive the benefits of framing their lives as a thing to be managed by others. Lambent Services was conceived by four people – three graduates of Yale University, and one of UCLA; two who were from greater New York, and two from California. We have drawn from our collective backgrounds a company that represents what is best about our country’s two largest and most sophisticated cities. Specifically, we combine an east coast emphasis on objectively measured quality, defined procedures, and accountability in the workplace with a west coast appreciation of the importance of lifestyle. To the extent that a celebrity is the opposite of a Puritan, we welcome Hollywood’s glamorization of those who would consider themselves worthy of another’s undivided attention, even if it is only in the privacy of their own home, while doing the most mundane of tasks. Our practical focus on this type of discrete service stems from our belief that everyone needs a personal assistant. While it is true that not everyone can afford a personal assistant, we have tried to make having one comparable to other relative luxuries, such as weekly psychotherapy, massage, or personal training. Our focus on part-time assistants allows for a wider range of clients. Akin to fractional jet ownership, there are no carrying costs associated with employing a full-time individual. The quality of our help, however, allows the traditional assistant market to use us as well. Our pool includes professional assistants who have worked for name celebrities and socialites.
